Great blue herons hunt the lagoon shallows by standing still; the strike takes less than a second, and the standing can take an hour. Most reaches of the Lake Worth Lagoon hold a resident bird at dawn, positioned at the edge of the light. The bands behind the reeds are the hour rendered as stripes.
Sunset fields laid out in Illustrator as horizontal bands with specified color stops; heron silhouette drawn with Bézier discipline and edge-textured in Photoshop to break the vector smoothness.
