Pair Kerning, Tropical

Spacing is a love language.

Two white cockatoos with orange-pink crests facing each other across a pink hibiscus under a golden sun, in a deco arch frame. Deco-framed panel.

The Story

Two cockatoos hold a wire over Lucerne Ave in daily session: face to face at a measured distance, taking turns, the hibiscus below them refereeing nothing. Typesetters keep a term for adjusting the space between exactly two characters - pair kerning. Wrong spacing reads awkward; right spacing reads as nothing at all, just the pair, complete.

The Making

  • Panel composed in Photoshop - the two birds mirrored into a facing pair, the spacing between them tuned in small increments like type.
  • Framed in the deco arch in Illustrator and given a golden-hour grade.
  • Print-prepped at 300 dpi.

Own this print? Pin where it lives.

Every print made here heads out into the world: a hallway in Ohio, a kitchen in Oregon, a desk somewhere cold. If this one landed with you, drop a pin and put your town on the map.

It’s printed next to the QR code on the story card that came with your print.

City level only. Your pin shows the town, never your address.
