The Story

The east side of Lake Worth Beach faces the sunrise, and the agaves planted along the shore are backlit before anything else in town. The rosette form - a radial structure of rigid leaves - fills a foreground completely when cropped close. The landscape frame holds the plant at the scale the shore presents it.

The Making

Cropped hard in Photoshop for foreground dominance, with a woodcut edge pass darkening the leaf margins.
Wave lines and sun re-inked in Illustrator for the print finish.
Composed at 3000 × 2400 px, 300 dpi, for the landscape print orientation.
